Minister celebrates Council team's green success (20/5/2010) Minister celebrates Council team's green success

An inspirational Council team that's helping save the environment and hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayer cash has been given a rare Green Dragon honour.

Swansea Council's 600-strong Corporate Building Services has reduced its waste by 44%, slashed energy consumption by 32% and boosted its recycling rate to 70%.

Now it's become one of only a handful of organisations in Wales to achieve the highest possible Level five in the environmentally-friendly Green Dragon Environmental Standard.

Jane Davidson, Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing, has presented a special plaque and certificate to the team.
