Groundwork teaches Bird Box skills to local Schools and Young People in Connah’s Quay (2/3/2010) Groundwork teaches Bird Box skills to local Schools and Young People in Connah’s Quay

BIRD BOX 25 FEB 031Groundwork has been teaching 3 schools and Social Services Leaving Care Group in Connah’s Quay how to make bird boxes, about local wildlife, how to increase biodiversity and how to improve the sustainability of the bird population.

Pupils from Wepre Lane Primary School, Ysgol Golftyn, Connah’s Quay High School and young people from Social Services Leaving Care Group have all been involved in this project.

The schools will put some of the bird boxes up in their school grounds and some will go to the newly transformed Connah’s Quay Wetlands (Behind Morrison’s Supermarket) which is in the process of being regenerated thanks to QuayCAT (Connah Quay Community Action Team) and Groundwork.

The pupils and young people have been taught about the new wetlands area and its importance in creating and maintaining wildlife habitats and sustaining birds.
